Confidence is a crucial factor for achieving success, and I believe everyone should possess this trait. Here, I’m going to shed some light on a time when I felt immensely proud and confident due to a significant achievement.

I remember when my school held a youth festival with various competitions. I wasn’t planning to participate, but my teacher asked me to give a speech because the original speaker was ill. Though unprepared and nervous, I agreed because my teacher showed great trust in me. It was my first time speaking in front of a large audience.

I was at sixes and sevens while choosing a topic for my speech, but one of my friends suggested me to talk about the environment. I started making notes of imperative points, but the most uphill battle was preparing a speech within 30 minutes. I felt like a cat on hot bricks. Suddenly, an idea clicked in my mind; I decided to take the help of the internet, an ocean of information, and my teacher also lent a helping hand.

Finally, I completed the speech, and my name was announced by my teacher. When I went on stage, my legs were shivering with nervousness, but my friends and teachers cheered me on and boosted my confidence. I began my speech by describing different factors leading to various types of pollution like soil, air, and water. Additionally, I mentioned certain remedies to mitigate environmental issues. When I finished my speech, the audience clapped for me, and I took a sigh of relief.

After that speech, I was walking on air, as it was a memorable moment for me, overcoming my fear of speaking in front of a large audience. Not only I felt confident, but my teachers also praised and congratulated me. This was the time I felt truly confident.

    Follow-ups

    1. Why do so many people lack confidence these days?
There are several reasons why people may lack confidence nowadays. Firstly, with the rise of social media, many individuals compare themselves to others. For instance, seeing others’ seemingly perfect lives online can make people feel inadequate. This often leads to feeling “like a fish out of water” in their own lives.

    2. Do you think that children of confident parents are also confident?
Yes, I believe that children of confident parents are likely to be confident. This is because children often learn by observing their parents. For example, if parents handle challenges with confidence, children tend to mimic this behavior.

    3. What can teachers do to make studying more interesting?
Teachers can adopt several methods to make studying more engaging. For one, they can incorporate technology into their lessons. For example, using educational apps and videos can make learning more interactive. This can turn studying from a “bore” to a “blast.”

    4. How can teachers help their students become more confident by rewarding them for studying?
Rewarding students can significantly boost their confidence. By acknowledging their efforts, students feel valued. For instance, giving praise or small awards for good performance can motivate students. This helps students feel “on top of the world” about their achievements.

    5. What can teachers do to help their students become more confident?
Teachers play a crucial role in building their students’ confidence. They can create a supportive and encouraging classroom environment. For example, encouraging participation and praising efforts can make students feel more capable. This approach helps students “come out of their shells.”

    6. How can a person become more confident?
There are various strategies a person can use to build confidence. One effective method is setting and achieving small goals. For example, learning a new skill or hobby can boost self-esteem. It’s like “taking one step at a time” to build a strong foundation of confidence.
