    Vocab/Idioms

    1. Thrilling – very exciting
    2. Truly – really
    3. Breathtaking view – great view
    4. Feast for the eyes – beautiful sight
    5. Fish out of water – nervous
    6. Over the moon – very happy

Well, to begin with, in this modern era, I believe life becomes truly memorable when we step out of our comfort zone and try something new. One such thrilling experience I had was scuba diving, which I tried for the very first time last summer in Goa.

Actually, scuba diving is a water sport where you breathe air from a tank while exploring underwater. I vividly remember trying it with my close friend, Raman. After finishing our senior secondary education, we planned this adventure in Goa, which is famous for its adventure sports and stunning beaches.

Both of us are avid explorers and love trying new activities. Moreover, Raman had a fear of water, so I thought scuba diving could be a perfect way for him to overcome it. When we arrived, we were immediately struck by the breathtaking beauty of the place—it was truly a feast for the eyes.

Honestly, we were both very excited but also a little nervous. At the beginning, I felt like a fish out of water, but with guidance from the instructors, we managed to complete the activity successfully.

Speaking honestly, it was an amazing experience because I enjoyed every single moment. Seeing Raman having fun and being over the moon made it even more memorable. Overall, scuba diving was a once-in-a-lifetime experience that left me feeling proud, thrilled, and full of joy.

    Follow-ups

    1. Why are some people unwilling to try new things?
Well, in my opinion, some people don’t like trying new things because they fear failure or making mistakes. In addition, they feel more comfortable sticking to their daily routines and what they already know. Sometimes, past negative experiences or low confidence also hold them back.
    2. Do you think fear stops people from trying new things?
Yes, definitely. Fear often prevents people from trying something new because they worry about failing or being judged. Even if the experience could be positive, the fear of the unknown can be stronger. Overcoming it usually requires confidence and support.
    3. Why are some people keen on doing dangerous activities?
I believe some people enjoy dangerous activities because they crave excitement and a sense of thrill. For example, skydiving or rock climbing gives them a feeling of achievement. In addition, these activities help them push their limits and test their courage.
    4. Do you think that children adapt to new things more easily than adults?
Yes, children usually adapt to new things faster than adults. This is because their minds are more flexible and open to change. For instance, children can learn a new language or get used to a new school more quickly, as they are curious and less afraid of failure.
    5. What can people learn from doing dangerous activities?
I would say that dangerous activities teach valuable life lessons. People often develop courage, discipline, and mental strength. For example, someone who goes scuba diving may learn how to stay calm under pressure and gain more confidence and self-awareness.
