    • You should spend about 40 minutes on this task

Nowadays animal experiments are widely used to develop new medicines and to test the safety of other products. Some people argue that these experiments should be banned because it is morally wrong to cause animals to suffer, while others are in favour of them because of their benefits to humanity.
Discuss both views and give your own opinion.

    • Write at least 250 words.

There is an ongoing debate about the use of animals in scientific experiments, particularly in the development of medicines and the testing of product safety. While some argue that this practice is morally wrong and should be banned, others believe it is vital for advancing human health. This essay will discuss both perspectives before presenting my own opinion.

On one hand, many people believe animal testing is morally wrong. They argue that animals feel pain just like humans do, and making them suffer for our benefit is unfair. In some experiments, animals are kept in small cages and are exposed to painful procedures, which can be very stressful and harmful to them. Animal rights supporters say that with modern technology, there are now better and more humane alternatives, such as computer models and lab-grown tissues.

On the other hand, supporters of animal testing believe it is essential for scientific progress. Many life-saving medicines, such as vaccines and cancer treatments, were first tested on animals. They argue that without animal testing, we may not be able to find cures for serious diseases. Also, they believe that testing on animals is safer than directly testing on humans.

In my opinion, animal testing should be allowed, but only when absolutely necessary and under strict rules. Scientists should always try to use other methods first and make sure that animals do not suffer more than needed. If done responsibly, it can still help save human lives while reducing harm to animals.

In conclusion, while animal testing has moral concerns, it still plays a key role in medical development. A balanced approach is needed to protect both animals and human health.
