Your university lecturer gave you an assignment. You won’t be able to submit your assignment on time.

Write to your lecturer asking for an extension. In the letter

  • describe the situation
  • explain why your assignment will be late
  • say when you will be able to hand in your assignment

You should write at least 150 words.

You do NOT need to write any addresses.

Begin your letter as follows:

Dear ……………..,

I am writing to request an extension for the upcoming assignment due on [Assignment Due Date]. Unfortunately, I find myself in a situation where I won’t be able to submit the assignment on time.

The reason for the delay in submission is due to unforeseen personal circumstances that have arisen recently. These circumstances have demanded my immediate attention and have significantly impacted/impeded my ability to focus on completing the assignment within the given timeframe. Despite my best efforts to manage my time effectively, these circumstances have posed unexpected challenges.

I assure you that I am fully committed to completing the assignment to the best of my ability. Therefore, I kindly request an extension of [Proposed Extension Duration], which I believe will provide me with sufficient time to finalize the assignment thoroughly.

I understand the importance of meeting deadlines and assure you that this request for an extension is not made lightly. I am confident that with the extension, I will be able to submit a quality assignment that meets the required standards.

Thank you for your understanding and consideration of my request. I look forward to your response.

Sincerely,

Don't Miss
