IELTS GT Letter Writing: Recently Migrated to Another Country (Band 7+)

You have recently migrated to another country. Now write a letter to your friend to describe your present life.

    In your letter, say:

    • when you have moved to this country
    • why you chose this country
    • how things are now for you

    Write at least 150 words.

You do NOT need to write any addresses.

    Begin your letter as follows:

    Dear ……………..,

    Dear Rahul,

I hope you are doing well. I have been meaning to write to you for a while to tell you about my life here, but everything has been happening so quickly.

As you know, I moved to this country about three months ago. I chose it mainly because of better career opportunities and the high standard of living. In addition, the education system and work environment here are highly regarded, which made it an attractive option for long-term settlement.

Life at the moment is quite busy but exciting. I have recently started a new job, and although it was challenging at first, I am slowly adjusting to the work culture. People here are generally polite and helpful, which has made the transition easier. I have also found a comfortable apartment close to my workplace, so commuting is no longer a problem.

Of course, I do miss home, especially family gatherings and our long chats. However, overall, I feel positive and hopeful about the future here.

Do write back and let me know how things are going with you.

    Take care,
