IELTS General Writing Task 1 Letter: Apartment Advertisement to Newspaper Editor

You want to rent out a small apartment to a family, and you have decided to advertise it.

Write a letter to the editor of a local newspaper asking to advertise your ad on the front page of the newspaper. In your letter,

    • give details of the ad that you want to publish
    • mention that you want the ad to be published on the front page
    • say how you would like to pay for the advertisement

    Write at least 150 words.

You do NOT need to write any addresses.

    Dear Sir or Madam

I am writing to request the publication of a rental advertisement for a small apartment that I wish to let out to a suitable family. I would appreciate it if you could feature the ad on the front page of your esteemed newspaper, as it would attract greater attention from potential tenants.

The advertisement should read as follows, two-bedroom apartment available for rent in a peaceful residential area of Greenfield Park. The flat includes a spacious living room, a fully-equipped kitchen, and two modern bathrooms. It is ideal for a small family. The location is well-connected, especially for those who commute to the city centre. Monthly rent is $1,200, and the apartment is available immediately. Contact 555-0192 for more information.

Not only is the apartment in excellent condition, but it is also close to schools and shopping centres, making it very convenient for families. Although similar properties are available, few offer such a quiet environment and modern amenities at this price.

I would prefer to make the payment for the advertisement via online bank transfer, which is both secure and convenient. However, if necessary, I can also pay in person or by cheque.

Thank you for your attention to this matter. I look forward to your Prompt response.

    Yours faithfully,
    [Your Name]
