There have been several occasions when I witnessed children behaving badly in public, which often happens because kids are natural attention seekers and sometimes act out when they don’t get the attention they want. One incident stands out clearly in my mind.
A few years ago, during my morning walk at the Rose Garden in Chandigarh, I saw a large group of school students on a field trip. At first, it was heartwarming to see the children so excited and full of energy as they explored the park. I was genuinely pleased watching them enjoy various activities outdoors.
However, things took a turn for the worse when it came to refreshments. The children began arguing over snacks and drinks, and tensions escalated quickly. One child lost his temper and became aggressive, throwing his drink on the ground. This behavior was unacceptable and really spoiled the mood. As the saying goes, it “put a damper” on everyone’s spirits.
Other visitors were visibly annoyed by the rude behavior. The adults tried to calm the situation, but it didn’t improve. It was a classic example of how one bad apple can spoil the whole basket.
Overall, this incident left me feeling down in the dumps because it’s disappointing to see children, who should be innocent and carefree, behave like that. It highlighted for me how important it is for parents and teachers to guide children on proper behavior, especially in public places. Clearly, patience and discipline truly go a long way in preventing such incidents and ensuring a positive environment for everyone.
