    3. Extremely – Very much

    7. Annoying experience – Irritating situation
    8. Commitments – Duties, responsibilities
    9. Juggling – Managing multitasking

To be honest, due to my hectic schedule, managing everything can feel like walking a tightrope. I try to stay organized, but there was one occasion when I completely forgot an important appointment—and that really cost me time and stress.

It happened around a year ago when I had booked an appointment at the passport office to renew my expired passport. I had made this appointment online, and it was scheduled for a Monday morning at 9:30 a.m. I was supposed to meet with a government officer who handles document verification.

Unfortunately, that week was especially demanding. I was working overtime on a big office project with tight deadlines, and I was also preparing for an upcoming family trip. Even though I had noted the appointment down, I didn’t set a proper reminder. Long story short, the date slipped my mind completely.

By the time I realized, it was already late afternoon, and I had missed the slot. I felt extremely disappointed and frustrated with myself. Not only did I have to rebook the appointment, but the next available date was two weeks later, which delayed my travel plans.

Honestly speaking, I felt like I had dropped the ball. I consider myself fairly punctual, so forgetting something so important really knocked the wind out of my sails. It was a wake-up call that no matter how busy life gets, some things just can’t be left to memory.

Since then, I’ve made it a habit to add all my appointments to my phone calendar and set multiple alarms. Looking back, it was an annoying experience, but I did learn a valuable lesson about time management and staying on top of commitments.

    Follow-ups

    1. Is punctuality important to people?
Absolutely, punctuality is highly valued in both personal and professional settings. For instance, arriving on time for a job interview reflects seriousness and respect. Moreover, being punctual often helps avoid unnecessary stress and creates a positive impression.
    2. What do you think is a good way to record things? Why?
One effective way to record tasks is by using digital calendars or reminder apps. These tools not only send alerts but also help prioritize tasks. For example, professionals often rely on Google Calendar to keep track of meetings and deadlines efficiently.
    3. Which is more important, a work-related appointment or an appointment with a friend? Why?
Generally speaking, a work-related appointment tends to carry more weight, especially when it involves deadlines or client interactions. That being said, maintaining a balance is also essential, as relationships contribute to mental well-being in the long run.
    4. If someone doesn’t really like whom they are going to meet, they may deliberately miss their appointment. Is that true? Why?
In some cases, that’s true. When there’s a lack of interest , a person might avoid the meeting altogether. For example, someone might cancel a catch-up with a former colleague if past interactions were uncomfortable.
    5. Do you think people should remember family history?
Yes, remembering family history is quite important as it helps preserve cultural identity and strengthens bonds across generations. For example, stories passed down by grandparents often reveal traditions, hardships, and values that help people understand where they come from.
    6. How do people who are busy remember things they need to do?
To stay organized, many busy individuals rely on to-do lists, mobile apps, or sticky notes. In addition, some set alarms for critical tasks. For example, a manager juggling multiple meetings might set calendar alerts to avoid missing anything important.
