    Vocab/Idioms

    1. Scrolling – Browsing continuously
    2. Couch potato – Lazy person
    3. Initially – At first
    4. Eventually – In time
    5. Daunting task – difficult

There are many people in my life who motivate me to improve myself, but today I want to talk about my older brother, who encouraged me to join a gym and start working out regularly.

This happened about a year ago during my summer vacation. At that time, I had just finished my exams and was spending most of my time at home, mostly watching TV or scrolling through my phone. I wasn’t very active and, to be honest, I was a couch potato who didn’t pay much attention to my health.

My brother, who is quite health-conscious and passionate about fitness, noticed my inactivity and encouraged me to join the local gym. Initially, I wasn’t interested at all because I thought it would be too tiring and time-consuming. However, he kept explaining the benefits of regular exercise—not just for physical health but also for mental well-being. He even showed me some of his own progress and described how working out helped him stay focused and motivated in other areas of his life.

He encouraged me further by offering to accompany me for the first few weeks so that I wouldn’t feel uncomfortable or out of place. He also suggested that we could set small goals together and make exercising a fun routine rather than something boring.

Eventually, I agreed to try it out for a week. Surprisingly, I ended up really enjoying it. Although it was a daunting task at first, I started feeling more energetic and positive within just a few days. I continued going regularly, and working out became an essential part of my daily routine.

Looking back, I’m really grateful for my brother’s efforts in convincing me to start exercising. It not only improved my physical fitness but also boosted my confidence and helped me develop a much healthier lifestyle overall.

    Follow-ups

    1. What impact does advertising have on children and their parents?

Advertising has a strong impact on both children and their parents. Firstly, children often ask their parents to buy products they see in ads, which can put pressure on parents. For example, kids may want the latest toys or snacks after watching TV commercials. As a result, parents sometimes end up spending more money than they planned.
