A friend of yours has recently written to you asking for advice about a problem at work. You have had a similar problem at your workplace in the past. Write a letter to your friend. In your letter,
- tell your friend how you feel about the problem
- explain how you faced a similar situation in the past
- suggest possible solutions to the problem
Dear Meera,
Thank you for your letter. I’m really sorry to hear about the issues you’re facing at work. It’s frustrating when your efforts aren’t recognised, especially when you’re giving your best.
I completely understand how you feel because I went through a similar phase last year. Despite working overtime and taking on extra responsibilities, my manager didn’t acknowledge my contributions. It made me feel undervalued and stressed.
What helped me was having an honest conversation with my supervisor. I calmly explained how I felt and presented examples of my work. Surprisingly, he wasn’t even aware of my efforts. After that, things started to improve—not only did I get better feedback, but I was also considered for a promotion.
I’d suggest you do the same. Either you speak directly to your manager or involve HR if the situation doesn’t improve. If you stay silent, it might only get worse.
Remember, you deserve to work in a place where your hard work is appreciated.
Take care and keep me posted,
Aarti
