IELTS General Writing Task 1 Letter: Cafeteria Closure Complaint (Band 7+)

The company you work has decided to close the cafeteria, as the staff is not using it much. You are not happy with the decision. Write a letter to the director Give reason of low use How it will affect the staff Suggest ways to improve it

Dear Sir or Madam,

I am writing to express my concern regarding the recent decision to close the company cafeteria. I believe this step may not be in the best interest of the staff.

The main/key  reason for its low use is the limited variety of food/ taste . Many employees feel that the menu is repetitive and lacks healthy options. In addition, the cafeteria timings often clash with busy work hours, which discourages staff from going there.

If the cafeteria is closed, it will affect the workforce negatively. Employees will either have to bring food from home or spend extra time outside the office to find meals. This will not only reduce their convenience but also affect productivity, especially during tight schedules.

I would suggest improving the cafeteria instead of shutting it down. The management could introduce either healthier meals or international cuisine to attract more people. Moreover, flexible opening hours and occasional discounts could make it more appealing.

I hope you will reconsider this decision and take steps that will benefit both the staff and the company.

Yours sincerely,
[Your Name]
