Today, I’d like to talk about a childhood friend who played a significant role in shaping some of my most cherished memories.
His name is Rajdeep, and we met when we were in Grade 2. If memory serves me right, it was during our school’s annual function. Both of us were selected to perform in a group dance, and that’s how the ice was broken between us. From then on, we became thick as thieves.
To be honest, we spent most of our time together both in and outside of school. Whether it was playing cricket in the evening, riding bicycles around the neighbourhood, or even doing homework – we were always together. Rain or shine, our friendship never missed a beat. We even had a secret handshake and a special code language that only we understood.
What made me like him so much was his cheerful nature and positive attitude. He was always the life of the party and never failed to put a smile on my face. No matter how down in the dumps I felt, he knew exactly how to lift my spirits. He was also extremely loyal – the kind of friend who would stand by your side through thick and thin.
All in all, our friendship was the highlight of my childhood. Although life has taken us in different directions now, those memories are still fresh in my heart. Rajdeep was not just a friend – he was like family to me.

To some extent, social media has already changed the way people communicate, especially when it comes to staying in touch over long distances. However, I don’t believe it will ever completely replace face-to-face interaction. Real-life conversations allow for better emotional connection and understanding. For instance, in-person talks involve tone, expressions, and gestures, which are often lost in online chats. - What’s the difference between having younger friends and older friends?
Generally speaking, younger friends often bring energy and new perspectives, while older friends offer guidance and life experience. For instance, my older friends help in making career decisions, whereas younger ones introduce trends and fun activities.
